(a) enhance your ability to understand and analyse the psychological/emotional dynamics that occur in families

(b) enable you to find solutions to unravelling anxieties, depressions, and anger producing parent-child and child-child interactions, and

(c) improve overall treatment outcomes for children, adolescents and adults.

Case studies will be discussed, and participants are invited to bring in their own difficult cases.

Tickets can be purchased online through Eventbrite

The cost is $20 (+ CA fee $1.80)

The Career Development Practitioners’ Certification Board of Ontario (CDPCBO) is pleased to invite you to an evening of stimulating discussion and networking. Join us to hear Tom Zizys, Labour Market Analyst, discuss labour market trends that impact our clients, our economy and our work as career development practitioners. Part of our role is to teach clients how to understand the labour market and develop ways to be career resilient as the market changes. This talk and our discussion afterwards will reflect the importance of LMI in our practice.

The Labour Market: What Problem Are We Trying To Solve?

Our changing labour market presents great uncertainty to youth making choices about their education, to job seekers looking for work and to career counsellors seeking to provide advice and guidance. A number of different trends are at play which contribute to an increasingly turbulent environment. This presentation will aim to unpack these trends and offer some suggestions about policy responses that could help promote more good jobs.

Tom Zizys

Tom Zizys has worked for over 25 years as a policy researcher and project consultant in the community sector, focusing on labour market analysis and designing employment programs. He works regularly with the various workforce planning boards across Ontario and frequently makes presentations to organizations and policymakers regarding labour market trends. Tom previously held a number of senior positions in the Government of Ontario, including Director of Policy, Premier’s Office. He has taught several courses at York University and Ryerson University, including program evaluation, public policy, and public law. He has also been involved in numerous international development projects focusing on civil society and poverty alleviation.
