Posted on

Good afternoon,

On behalf of Hike Ontario, the Centre for Innovation in Campus Mental Health, Conservation Ontario, and the Ontario Council of Agencies Service Immigrants, the Canadian Mental Health Association Ontario Division is excited to announce that Mood Walks for Campus Mental is now accepting applications from interested Ontario Colleges and Universities.

Funded by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Mood Walks for Campus Mental will help post secondary institutions across Ontario to plan, implement, and evaluate walking/hiking groups to support the physical and mental health of students, including newcomer students who may experiencing additional stress due to settlement challenges, and those at risk of or experiencing mental illness.

Mood Walks offers a significant opportunity to enhance your mental health strategies with an evidence-based low, low barrier physical activity program.  Hiking is a fun and low cost activity, research evidence shows that being physically active in nature has significant positive effects on both physical and mental health, and for students supports academic performance.

More detailed information on the program and how to apply can be found at  http://www.moodwalks.ca/  or to learn more you may sign up for our webinar at https://campusmentalhealth.ca/webinars/physical-wellness/
